The Chinese Government Scholarship – AUN Program, also known as the “China-AUN Scholarship”, is a fully funded scholarship established by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and administered by the China Scholarship Council in partnership with the ASEAN University Network. This scholarship is intended for citizens of ASEAN member states who wish to pursue a master’s or PhD program at a designated Chinese university for the 2026–2027 academic year. It covers tuition fees, provides on-campus accommodation or a housing subsidy, offers a monthly stipend of 3,000 CNY for master’s students and 3,500 CNY for PhD students, and includes comprehensive medical insurance.
The AUN Program was created to strengthen academic cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. It supports only graduate and doctoral studies; there is no funding for undergraduate programs. Covered fields include all disciplines offered by the Chinese universities participating in the program: science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and arts. Recipients may choose a program taught in Chinese or in English, and the scholarship may include one year of Chinese language training. The maximum duration is three years for a master’s and four years for a PhD. According to the official guidelines, 30 scholarships are offered each year, and application intake is managed by the AUN Secretariat.
